Staddlestone, also known as mushroom stones, were originally used as structural supports for granaries/stores in medieval England. This was to deter rats and mice (they can't climb up the mushroom shape) and avoid ground damp.

Made in the UK. Aged Cotswold finish.

The stone is durable and strong, withstanding all weather conditions. Great garden decor!

The price is for the pair: one large and one small staddle stone.

Made in the UK

Made by Lucas Stone, a small family workshop in the UK and expertly hand-crafted.

Each statue is individually moulded from local materials and traditional methods. The hardiness of their construction enables outdoor display whatever the conditions.

What Our Customers Have to Say About Our Service...

"Hello Stephen, .. I just wanted to drop you a line to say thank you very much for your delivery of 'Gruesome Jake' - my mum said he is rather sulky & hasn't said a word since he arrived ! She also said she was quite impressed with your website - so don't be surprised if she orders something. Thanks again, "

"I found the Garden Statue Shop through a Google search having thought the prices asked by competitors trading through Amazon were a bit steep. For instance, the Cycladic statue Florence, offered under a different name, was nearly £100 more at the time. (If I'd waited for the Winter Special Offers, things would probably have been even more favourable).

Next, the Garden Statue shop offers a huge range of goods. There'll be something there that's just what you want. For instance, I found Ball and Base finials that were exactly the right size for a pair of existing brick posts.

Then I noticed free delivery was offered on orders over £400, looked again and chose a Large Tomb Cat for a pet's grave.

Finally, my order was delivered in 2 weeks and 2 days by an absolutely brilliant driver. He unpacked all the items in the van and carefully manoeuvred Florence, the heavy one, out of the van, up a step and onto her stand. This was quite unlike a previous experience in which items were left in the road for us to deal with, no matter how awkward or heavy.

All our statues were in the Aged Cotswold Finish. Please note, this isn't just a coating. No, the surfaces of the items are distressed, meaning for instance that Florence, who's original is several thousand years' old, has a suitably pitted surface. Large Tomb Cat is Egyptian and slightly scored on the flanks. The finials are probably Victorian and generally smoother. The degree of distressing is suited to each individual piece.

Dealing with the Garden Statue Shop has been a pleasure for us. Browse, choose and order in complete confidence."
